Gunmonkey Presents: OCTOBER SPOOKTACULAR (cuz “Scary Movie Month” is, like, three whole words to type)

October 2, 2012

Hey amigos! It’s the most wonderful time of the year again–no, not Christmas (though, that’s okay, too). It’s October, and that means Scary Movie Month. Okay, that’s actually a lot to type, so this year let’s just call it October Spooktacular, because I’m pretty sure that phrase isn’t copyrighted. Anyway, for this, the month of Pumpkin Ale, Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, and, uh, sexy Pumpkin costumes I’ll be covering naught but horror movies. That’s right, 31 days (well, 30 now) of nothing but reviews of scary movies…showing up every couple days. We’re talking monsters and ghosts and, well, probably zombies (statistically-speaking they’re bound to show up), and if there are any vampires, they’ll be the bitey kind and not the glittery kind. Sound good? Why oh why must October come but once a year? I don’t know. I think it has something to do with the Romans.

Anyway, let’s get this party started in the most logical manner, shall we? With a bloated, defeated Val Kilmer in The Traveler.

Then we’ll talk about Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

And V/H/S

And after that: The House at the End of the Street

Then we’ll do The Wake Wood

Then I fall in love with Sara Paxton in: The Innkeepers

Next we’ll stargaze at the Night Skies

And we get wet with Humanoids From the Deep.

Creepy-crawlies attack in Kingdom of the Spiders

Ethan Hawke treats us to some supremely unsettling home movies in Sinister

While we’re at it, let’s check out some hawt Korean chicks in Yoga

Then I pull another review from the vault in The Disappeared

We check out this Canadian Cutie in The Thing Below

After that, I dust off The Haunting in Connecticut

Then we review the Paranormal Activity franchise, Paranormal Activity, Paranormal Activity 2, and Paranormal Activity 3

…in preparation for Paranormal Activity 4

And then we’ll try something different with Savage

Then we spend some time in the Dark Tower.

While we’re at it, why don’t we revisit The Devil’s Tomb

And we swing by Long Island for The Amityville Haunting

And I blew way too much money on Silent Hill: Revelations 3D

We get chased by Michael Caine’s severed limb in The Hand

And we finally wrap things up with The Birds
